Salar Restaurant & Lounge (Downtown Dayton)
Located in the heart of Dayton’s Oregon District, Salar Restaurant and Lounge opened in 2013 with Chef Margot Blondet at the helm. A menu with French, Peruvian, and Mediterranean influences is partnered with an intriguing ambiance, complete with a water wall feature, contemporary but comfortable decor and an impressive bar that expands the length of the window lined front lounge.
I was greeted by Margot, who was warm and inviting – and quite obviously very busy preparing for that evenings dinner service. Her Marketing Coordinator, Keslina, sat with me and generously answered all my questions about their gluten free offerings.
“We are fortunate to have Tyler, our front house manager. He has Celiac Disease and is very aware of the needs of guests who need gluten free options.”
Salar’s menu changes seasonally, but always has that Peruvian flare featuring traditional flavors and spices. Many of the dishes highlight naturally gluten free starches such as risotto and traditional rices, potatoes, and quinoa.
While I did not have the opportunity to sample their dishes (I was too early!), Keslina was eager to invite me back, and with the information I gathered, I will return and eat with confidence as a Celiac sufferer.
